News from SKPOS – 2nd half of 2025
Change of IP Address
For security enhancement, the SKPOS service is replacing the original IP address with a domain. The original IP address will remain functional on all devices until 30 June 2026. By this date, the original IP address must be replaced with the new domain. The address must be updated on all devices or applications that access the SKPOS service in real time: geodetic instruments, agricultural machinery, construction machines, drones, etc. More information, including instructions on how to change the IP address, can be found on the prepared webpage: skpos.gku.sk/ip.
End of operation of the SKPOS_CM_23 mountpoint
The operation of the SKPOS_CM_23 mountpoint will be terminated on December 31, 2026. After this date, RTK corrections in the outdated RTCM 2.3 format will no longer be provided. We recommend switching to newer correction formats - SKPOS_CM_32, which supports all available satellite systems, or SKPOS_CM_31, designed for receiving corrections from GPS and GLONASS systems.
New Reference Stations BDRV and KUBI
In autumn, two new reference stations were connected to the network solution: BDRV (Bodorová – Turčianske Teplice district) and KUBI (Dolný Kubín). Both stations use pillar stabilization and therefore meet the criteria for geodynamics research.
New Foreign Reference Stations
During the year, several new foreign reference stations from Austria, Hungary, and Poland were connected to the network solution.
In October, the receivers at reference stations BBYS and KOLS were replaced—Trimble NetR9 units were upgraded to new Trimble Alloy receivers, which support all satellite systems, including BeiDou-3.
Replacement of Antennas at Reference Stations
At the reference stations BREZ, DOPL, NTRA, PRSV, RISA, SKLM, SKMT, SKSE, SKSK, SKSL, and VELS, Zephyr 2 Geodetic antennas were replaced with new Zephyr 3 Geodetic antennas.
Control Software Upgrade
We have upgraded the control software of the SKPOS service to version TPP 5.2.3. The new version focuses on increasing system security and reliability. The suppression of ionospheric activity effects has been improved, and occasional outages in BeiDou satellite processing have been fixed.
Number of Users
In August, we surpassed the threshold of 4000 registered users. While the first thousand took 10 years, the second took 5 years, the third 3 years, the fourth two and a half years, and we expect the fifth during next year.
Publications and Presentations
Over the past year, we presented several topics:
- at the 11th EUPOS meeting, we presented the national report,
- at the Tatry 2025 conference, we presented a contribution on the current state and future challenges,
- at the international EUREF symposium, we presented the national report,
- at the GNSS 2025 conference, we presented information on how we compute coordinates of SKPOS reference stations.
